Home/Custom work

Make the Harness
fit the way you work.

Your staff can build useful small tools in the conversation. We step in when the job needs a reusable business skill, a connection to another system, careful testing or an agreed data-handling scope.

Staff-built tools · business skills · MCP integrations · letter templates · email and research

Three levels of custom work.

Not every useful idea needs a build. The right level depends on who will rely on it, what it can touch and how long it needs to keep working.

A tool your staff ask for

A calculator, converter, checklist or small document helper can be built inside a conversation. The current Harness has produced a working custom tool and listed it in the Tools room.

Good for bounded work. Saving and model re-use are included.

A skill for your business

A skill carries the steps, wording, templates and checks your office uses repeatedly. The right skill loads itself for the job, so staff do not have to know which one to pick.

Useful for house formats, intake checks, redaction, document preparation and repeatable review work.

An integration with another system

An integration lets the Harness read from or prepare work for software you already use. We check the vendor's API or supported file route before promising what can be automated.

External actions stay behind human approval unless a separate unattended authority is agreed.

Shared improvements are not billed as bespoke work.

If a requested improvement belongs in the standard Harness, the quote can treat it as a platform change rather than customer-specific development. Business-specific integrations, rules and deliverables are scoped and priced separately.

The useful work is usually unglamorous.

The best custom jobs start with a real pile of admin, not a vague request to “add AI”.

Documents in your house format

Letters, reports, minutes, file notes and schedules prepared from your source documents, using the headings and review points your staff already know.

Invoices and forms staged for checking

Where document extraction is included in the scope, we test agreed PDFs or scans against the required fields and prepare a draft import or review list. Posting or sending remains a human decision unless separately authorised.

Matter, patient or job context

Read the files relevant to one piece of work and draft from that material. How far this reaches into practice software depends on the vendor connection available.

Email preparation

A fitted mailbox integration can draft replies, sort a shared inbox and prepare briefings. The setup record names the mailboxes, permitted actions, approval points and acceptance examples.

Research with sources

Run several lines of enquiry, fetch the pages and assemble a report whose citations point to retrieved material.

Computer vision

Read a gauge, count visible items or flag a defined visual condition from business images. That work needs sample images and an acceptance test; it is not a generic promise that a camera understands everything.

Connections change the privacy boundary.

In the base offline configuration, prompts, documents, recordings and model work stay on the appliance. A feature that reaches email, research, accounting or practice software is an explicit exception, not something hidden in the small print.

Local files and network shares
Can remain inside your network when configured that way
Business email
Uses the approved mailbox connection and the permissions recorded for it
Deep research
Uses the appliance's controlled web-search route and fetches external pages
Cloud or vendor software
Sends only through the integration and actions named in the scope
Remote support and updates
Need a temporary connection when requested or applied

How we scope and price a build.

Anything we build for you is scoped in writing before work starts, so you know what it will do and what it will cost.

Saved tools callable by the assistant

The Harness is maintained by us and improves with every release. Applying an update needs a temporary connection while it is fetched and checked.

Fine-tuning is a separate data job.

Sometimes examples and a well-written skill are enough. If a consistent gap remains across a useful set of your own writing, a training run may be worth scoping.

Try the simpler route first

Give the Harness good examples, your terminology and a clear review checklist. That is easier to change, easier to audit and often solves the problem without moving data off the appliance.

If training happens off site

Only the material agreed for the job is transferred. The quote and data-processing scope must record the purpose, access, storage, retention, deletion, security and the rights and handover terms for the output.

Off-site fine-tuning is never part of the base offline claim and never starts on an informal “send us the files” basis.

Show us the current job
Real inputs, the person who does it and what a good result looks like

Hours at $200 per hour, deliverables and acceptance checks in writing

Use your agreed examples and record what the tool should not do

Questions about custom work

Can staff build a small tool themselves?

Yes. A staff member can ask the Harness to build a small tool in the conversation — a calculator, a converter, a checker — save it to the company library and call it again from any chat.

Where the job needs a maintained integration into your practice management system or ledger, testing against those systems, or a letter template rebuilt in your own house style, that becomes quoted custom work and we build it for you.

Will you connect to software we already use?

Where the software provides a suitable API, file exchange or supported connection, usually. We start by checking what the vendor actually exposes and what your staff are allowed to do with it.

We do not imply a partnership with the software vendor. The quote records the allowed actions, data flow, approvals and what happens when the external service is unavailable.

Can email and deep research be included?

Deep research is part of the Harness. Business email and shared mailboxes are fitted integrations: the quote names each mailbox, permitted action and approval step, and we prove the connection before handover.

What happens to our data during off-site fine-tuning?

Off-site fine-tuning is a separate, optional service. It means agreed source material leaves the appliance for the training job, so it cannot sit under an absolute offline claim.

Before any transfer, the written scope must identify the material, purpose, security, access, retention and deletion steps, and the rights and handover terms for the resulting work. If those terms are not agreed, the material does not leave the appliance.

How is custom work priced?

We scope the job at $200 per hour and put the hours and deliverables into a written quote before work starts. A connection to a vendor system, a reusable skill and a larger workflow are different jobs, so we do not publish a made-up one-size estimate.

If the standard Harness or an included staff-built tool already covers the job, we will say so.

Integrations and templates

It works with the software you already pay for.

A private system is only useful if it reaches the systems your office actually runs on. We build those connections and hand them over working.

Your letterhead, your wording

Letter and document templates

We rebuild your own templates as skills: engagement letters, file notes, client updates, statements of advice, quotes, scopes of works and minutes — in your house wording, on your letterhead, in the format your industry expects.

Staff dictate or ask; the draft comes back ready to read and send, not a generic block of text somebody has to rewrite.

MCP

Connected to your business systems

MCP is the standard for connecting AI to business software, and it is how the Harness reaches your practice management system, ledger, document store, CRM or signature service.

Installed from our library or built for your system, running on your appliance — so the connection stays inside your network rather than routing through somebody else’s cloud.

Built once, yours to keep

Custom builds that stay yours

Anything specific to your business is quoted, built and installed as a skill or an MCP server. It then runs locally for as long as you want it, with no per-call fee and no vendor able to withdraw it.

Broadly useful builds get generalised into the library, so every system we install gets richer over time.

Tell us the three jobs your team repeats most. We will scope them and quote the build.

Bring the task people keep putting off.

A spreadsheet, a report, an inbox rule, a document set or a handover nobody enjoys writing. We will tell you whether staff can build it themselves, the standard Harness already covers it, or it needs a quoted piece of work.

We are ready to start a closed pilot of the platform with businesses. On-site installs and demonstrations are coming soon; register your interest now.
